Togakure – Superior Katana Special Edition
The Togakure Shinobigatana Shinken is deliberately unlike a standard katana. A short, broad T-10 blade, no bohi and a pronounced 14 cm O-kissaki give this Superior Special Edition a compact silhouette and a very different handling profile.
What makes this Special Edition different
- T-10 carbon-steel blade with differential clay hardening
- Real Gunome Chōji hamon
- Japanese-style hamon polish
- 14 cm O-kissaki and no bohi
- Black cotton tsuka-ito over genuine black samegawa
These are not simply cosmetic additions. Together they define the specification of this version and clearly separate it from the regular model in the Superior Series.
Blade construction and heat treatment
The 57 cm blade is made from T-10 carbon steel in Maru Kitae construction. Its 36 mm motohaba, 28 mm sakihaba and 14 cm O-kissaki produce a short but notably broad geometry. There is no bohi. Differential clay hardening forms a real Gunome Chōji hamon, which is then highlighted with a Japanese-style polish.
Tsuka, fittings and saya
The 28 cm tsuka is wrapped in black cotton using alternating Hinerimaki with hishigami over genuine black samegawa. A mokkogata tsuba supports the intentionally dark, functional appearance. The 73 cm black Kuroro Ishime saya uses genuine buffalo horn for the koiguchi, kurikata and kojiri.
Design language and inspiration
The Togakure is conceived as a shinobigatana in its own right, not simply as a shortened standard katana. Its compact proportions and subdued black mounting draw on the visual language associated with traditional ninjutsu swords, avoiding the exaggerated appearance of purely decorative 'ninja swords'.
Individually numbered and signed
This sword belongs to the YariNoHanzo Superior Katana – Special Editions collection. Each example is individually numbered and signed, making these configurations clearly identifiable as special interpretations of established Superior models.
Free extras included
Every Special Edition comes with a katana maintenance and cleaning kit for routine blade care and a silk sword bag with fusahimo for storage and presentation. Both are supplied at no additional cost.
